What it means to be in a Relationship
Well, it depends what one is looking for in another person and for how long.
A relationship can be compared to a flower. If you do not water it and if you do not take care of it, it will not grow and because of that the flower dies due to lack of affection, patiency and love.
When I was younger I spent a lot of my free-time at our balcony, singing to all the flowers we had at that time. Talking to them, even touching them very gently.. It seems like because I paid so much attention to them, they grew quicker and more beautifully than other flowers did.
A relationship is something you take care of regularly, every day, all the time. Especially, if you want it to remain alive, grow and become a beautiful and gladiolus flower. A gladiolus flower can not be hurt or damaged from the outside — not even from the wildest of storms.
It means making mistakes, forgiving each other, accepting situations, fighting, yes it even means hating. It also means always finding their way back to each other after a fight. And never turning their back to each other no matter the circumstances. It also means taking chances, having to make decisions and no longer creating your own future but yours and your partners.
In a relationship both partners need to nurture their flower.
In this case, the flower stands as a symbol for their relationship.
I would like you to imagine two people and a flower between them.
A guy is standing on the left side, his girlfriend is standing on the right, the flower in between them.
Now the guy waters the flower daily, he takes care of it and he even sings to it (means he does everything to make sure the flower remains alive). The girl though, she does not take care of it as much as she should (the bare minimum).
However their plant needs both sides of care and love so right now the flower is barely staying alive.. Life gets busy sometimes, we all know that. The guy might not be able to perform in his best way sometimes; If his exams are near or if work is exhasuting, if something good or tragic happens he might not be able to sing to the flower additionally like he always does. But he will still take care of it as best as he can. Unfortunately, the girl is not changing her ways, she is barely watering their flower. The flower could and will possibly die.
If we pursue a relationship that is meant to last a life-time, both partners need to nurture and take care of their flower equally and regularly. One sided love and affection never works out in the long run.
Love means always turning around to each other because something not seen is not thought about.
So let us never lose sight of what really matters.
